Reeves Family History Lives on at Alpine Scout Camp

Do you remember your first camping trip?

Did you ever camp at Alpine Scout Camp?

Do you remember Reeves Lodge?

We recently marked the 20th anniversary of John E. Reeves Cub World at Alpine Scout Camp located in New Jersey only 20 minutes north of the George Washington Bridge adjacent to the Palisades Parkway. Since its beginning, John E. Reeves Cub World has enabled the Greater New York Councils to serve over 62,000 Cub Scouts with an outstanding summer program and serve hundreds of thousands of Cub Scouts and their families with a weekend or daylong camping experience. After 20 years of use, some much-needed renovations are necessary on many of the buildings, campsites, and program areas.

We plan to renovate the John C. Whitehead Dining Hall, the Aquatic Center (including pool and locker room), three comfort stations, and several campsites. To help finance this important work, J.E. “Ed” Reeves, Jr., introduced a unique opportunity with the “John E. Reeves Cub World Alpine Scout Camp Challenge Match” - a 1:2 matching gift program. The estimated cost to completely renovate John E. Reeves Cub World is $600,000. $200,000 for this project has already been pledged by The Reeves Foundation as a challenge grant.

Can we count on you to make a donation of $100 to improve Alpine Scout Camp?
Thank you for continued support of the Greater New York Councils, BSA - it is greatly appreciated!
