Camping: Trek NYC

Welcome to TREK NYC!  Trek NYC is an exciting week long program that will take you across the “Greatest City in the World” over the course of 3-5 days and introduce you to some of the most famous places and sights.

Cost:  The base trek price is $425 per person (youth and adult).  In addition to this, you will choose your own adventures for each day of your trek which could have additional fees.  We will work with you to customize your trek based on your preferences.  Just let us know what you would like to do and we will “be prepared” for your arrival and your adventure with us.  

ALL Treks will include 

  • Lodging in BSA wall tents with cots or lean-to sites at Alpine Scout Camp in Alpine NJ
  • Dining hall experience for two meals each day with the third “brown bag” style meal (unless other arrangements)
  • Transportation to and from NYC daily (including tolls)
  • All transportation fees for the tour (MTA card or equivalent)
  • Trek NYC bag with subway map, light snacks and bottle of water
  • Commemorative patch
  • Availability of Cub World Pool at specified times
  • A visit to the Empire State Building (78th floor) to the GNYC office.  NOTE: Additional fee is required for observation Deck (86th floor)
  • A trip to Central park

Daily Schedule (*times will vary daily based on the tour of the day)

  1. Wake up and get ready
  2. Breakfast
  3. Leave for the city  
  4. Tour of City (lunch in the city)
  5. Travel back to camp
  6. Dinner
  7. Evening program 

*one day may be early to city and another late night in the city for the night experience

 

Choose from the following prepackaged treks

or customize your own adventure a la carte

Uptown trek (1 day) – visit sites like Grant’s tomb, riverside park, Columbia university, Lincoln center, FAO Schwartz

Midtown trek (1 day) – visit Times Square, Rockefeller Center, St Patrick’s cathedral, Grand Central Station

Downtown trek (1 day) – See the Statue of Liberty, 9-11 memorial, wall street 

Sports trek (2 day) – visit some of the most famous sports venues in the world 

Movies/TV trek (1 day) – visit places you have seen in the movies

History trek (1 day) – for the history buffs.  You will visit museums and historical sites around the city

Hiking trek (2 day) – hike the Brooklyn Bridge and 2 historic trails in NYC.  (patch for historic trail sites)

Five borough trek (mark if interested in visiting all five boroughs during the week)

Merit badge trek (Mark if you are interested in Blue Cards for MB tracking)

Many locations have multi-attraction packages or have free days or special admissions days. Contact each facility you are interested in.  In general, child admission fee not given if price break is less than 13 years old.          

Some locations require reservations (such as 911 Memorial)

Others offer discounts if tickets bought on line in advance.      

Sporting events, concerts, attractions (such as a circus), theaters (both on and off Broadway) vary in price and should be handled by special request.
